“Let Us Pray”
by Rev. Edward S. Davis (D.Min.)
Prayer is not merely a ritualistic obligation; it is a profound expression of one's faith and trust in the divine. It provides a space for reflection, allowing individuals to contemplate their actions, seek forgiveness, and aspire to live according to their spiritual principles. The act of praying signifies a relationship with, and a recognition of one's dependence on a higher power, fostering a sense of humility and gratitude.
Moreover, prayer can be a source of comfort, particularly in times of distress or uncertainty. It offers believers a means to find strength and guidance, reinforcing their faith and resilience.
In this season of Lent, In these times of uncertainty our faith in the Lord’s abiding grace must be strong, as we journey in this wilderness together. Let us pray.
No matter what your political perspectives, we are called by God and Jesus Christ to care for the suffering of others. We must engage as a community of faith, individuals, institutions, communities, and nations that threaten the well-being of humanity on any level.
We cannot be gripped with fear, indifference, or blinded by our perceived elevated status in ignoring the cries of the people who are oppressed and those who will be caught up in the whirlwind of change that is sweeping the nation. Let us pray.
Now is the time for our Churches and Leaders to come together, work together, to do as God requires “to do Justice”.(Micah 6:) The Southern Conference is and will be committed to putting flesh on the Gospel by acting to prepare, educate, and equip the new surge of Leaders both clergy and Laity in the pursuit of justice for our seniors, children, the sick, the disabled and all men and women who seek dignity within their humanity. Let us work together in our efforts to create the beloved community that fosters love and respect for all human being to the Glory of God. Let us pray.
