Eastern North Carolina Association
ENCA Associate Conference Minister
Rev. Dr. Dannie Williams
Reverend Dr. Dannie T. Williams has faithfully served as the Senior Pastor of Melfield United Church of Christ for 29 years. In 2025, he celebrates an extraordinary 50 years in ministry—a milestone that reflects a lifetime of dedicated service, visionary leadership, and deep spiritual commitment.
Throughout his tenure, Dr. Williams has held numerous leadership roles within the Southern Conference (SOC) and the Eastern North Carolina Association (ENCA). His contributions include serving as Minister of Church Life and Education, Treasurer of both the ENCA and the SOC, and as a respected member of the ENCA Board of Directors. He also led with distinction as Vice President and President of the Southern Conference Board of Directors.
In addition to his pastoral and conference leadership, Dr. Williams has had a remarkable career in public education. Now retired from the state of North Carolina, he served as a teacher, principal, assistant superintendent, and superintendent of schools. He continues to share his expertise as an educational consultant, empowering leaders and communities across sectors.
Dr. Williams is widely regarded for his wisdom, humility, and unwavering commitment to both faith and education. His legacy continues to inspire generations of clergy, educators, and community leaders.
From central North Carolina to the coast, the Eastern NC Association includes some of North Carolina’s most famous landmarks and towns — including the Hatteras Lighthouse, the country’s first state university and the State Capitol. The Association is also home to over 75 churches that represent a range of communities. We want churches to send in their special programming dates to their Association so that it can be added to the Association and Conference Calendar.

Legacy In Motion Is Causing A Traffic Jam according to Rev. Dian JacksonDavis (D.Min.),
President, ENCA Church Women

“In Joppa there was a disciple named Tabitha (Dorcas)… She was always doing good and helping those in need.” — Acts 9:36
The Eastern North Carolina Association Church Women are on the move—and we hope you’ll join us!
When we called it “Legacy in Motion”, we had no idea the women were ready to create a traffic jam. There, in Burlington, we discovered there was already traffic on the road: approximately thirty women, representing eight of eleven congregations. One room. A whole lot of conversation. And apparently not a traffic officer in sight.
Over the next two months, our officers and District Representatives will continue to travel across the Association to meet, listen, laugh, dream, and reimagine what our Church Women can become together. We believe God is calling us, like Dorcas, to lives of compassionate service, meaningful connection, and faithful leadership.
NEXT STOP - Sanford District, Legacy in Motion is driving your way: Sandhill Shiloh St. Luke Congregational Christian Pinehurst Congregational Hanks Chapel Mt. Zion Word of Life Pine Hill Alston Chapel CommunityCongregational*
Sunday, August 30th, 4:00 p.m.
Location - To be announced. Your District Rep, Rev. Laverne Cofield or yours truly will follow up. [Upcoming Legacy in Motion district meetings: Triangle - Sept 19th; Henderson - Sept 26th, New Bern - in progress.]
The women are ready, not simply to remember the legacy, but to “put it in motion.” And from the looks of things, we may need a few more lanes.
