Designed to Address Three E's: 1) Educating, 2) Equipping and 3) Empowering Both Clergy and Laity.  

History & Polity (UCC Theology) / taught by Rev. Rollin Russell (course for laity and optional non-credit class for clergy)

Boundaries and Best Pastoral Practices (Credit Class for Clergy)

Please pre-register for above two Thursday workshops when you register for Annual Gathering.  

Thursday Evening: 7:00 pm in Canterbury School's Phillips Chapel, a joint SOC service will be shared with the Women of the Southern Conference.  The Rev. Karen Georgia Thompson (D.Min.) will be the speaker.  She serves as Minister for Ecumenical and Interfaith Relations for the United Church of Christ. She is an inspiring preacher and teacher, sharing her skills and gifts in a variety of settings nationally and internationally. She is also a published writer and poet.  Read more

Prayer Walk / learning opportunities.  

Friday Afternoon (2:00 - 5:00): SOC Business Session 

Friday Evening:  Experience a "new thing" at Celebration Dinner Show preceded by a relaxing jazz ensemble. Don't be mistaken by their age. The Cummings High School Jazz Octet located in Burlington NC does not sound like a High School group. From playing Frankie Beverly and Maze to Charlie Parking, this group will make you tap your toes and swing side to side. Under the direction of Gregory Milton, this group has performed throughout Alamance County for a variety of events and organizations. You don't want to miss this group at the annual gathering!

The Open and Affirming Churches plan to gather immediately following the end of the dinner show (location at the school to be announced). For details contact Nancy Allison at pastor@holycovenantucc.org

Read pastoral letter from Conference Minister detailing significance of "History & Polity Workshop" for laity. Attendees planning to take the Thursday morning workshops (History & Polity/UCC Theology for Laity; and/or Clergy Boundary Training) should check these categories when filling out the Eventbrite Annual Gathering Registration form or mail-in form.  


Exhibitors are invited to reserve table on a first come first served basis at $25.00 or $50.00 (depending on vendor category).  Deadline to request table is June 4.  Download Vendor Form.  


Resolutions that are of a timely or emergent nature (having to do with events/circumstances that develop after the resolution deadline) may be submitted to the Secretary of the Conference by 6:00 pm on Wednesday, June 12, 2019. It must be in writing. Such late business will be dealt with at the discretion of the Executive Committee. Resolutions submitted in advance will be listed in the final agenda and the time of their consideration indicated.
