In A Beginning God Created … Black Life

With Rev. Dr. Velda Love

The Christian Church continues to embrace narratives, ideologies, and traditions that are not invitational and embracing of African descended people’s ways of being. African descended people have historical and contemporary religious and spiritual practices that remain important strategies for liberation and activism because Black Lives Matter.

The resurgence of white supremacy is not a new phenomenon but it is pervasive and impacts African American communities and churches. This seminar will explore models that challenge traditional Western and Christian ideologies through African-centered biblical and theological teaching. Time will be spent developing strategies to actively address oppressive systems and structures that hold Black Christians hostage to white Christian supremacy. We will also explore behaviors of misogyny, and anti-black liberation.  This seminar is designed to move participants towards constructive social action, prophetic cultural narratives, and radical reconciliation among African America Christians. Through exploration and study we will learn how to restore Black life as intended by God, In A Beginning.
